Summit Photography, based
in the Big Bear Valley, is made up of two photographers - Scott Cordner and
Cathleen Calkins.
Scott Cordner has been photographing for 15
years. His work has appeared in consumer advertising collateral and in regional
visitor guides. Cordner continues to show his adventure and fine-art images at
various venues throughout Southern California. “I see the beauty in everything
and I try to capture the moment as I see it - pure, unaltered and
uncomplicated.” Cordner is known for his technical expertise and master print
making. Currently he is working on a re-photographic study of the Big Bear
Valley.
Cathleen Calkins has been making pictures for 15
years as well. Her work has appeared on music-related compact discs and in
regional and national print magazines and newspapers. In 2005, Calkins was
awarded an honorable mention by Women in Photography International for her
adventure photo of “Street Scene - Tinque, Peru.” Calkins continues to produce
fine art, adventure and commercial images - all with a view of telling a story.
“I am compelled to know the who, what and why of the subjects I photograph, and
I think this comes through.” Calkins, also a freelance writer, is hard at work
writing about and photographing the local San Bernardino Mountains for a
forthcoming book.
